Our History |
The European Market opened its doors in 1997, initially as Lorita's Mini Mart. After selling newspapers, pop, chocolate bars, coffee and pastries, we slowly started bringing in Russian food - salamis, meat dumplings, perogies, cheese, fish, candies and other goods. Over the years, a small produce aisle was introduced where in the summers we would to drive BC, pick up fruit (cherries, apricots, peaches) and bring it back to Edmonton.
After moving to a new location in 2006, the Europan Market broadened its scope from just focusing on Russian/Ukrainian foods, and started bringing in a wider selection of European items. Over the years, the selection grew (including a failed/poorly timed attempt at DVD rentals). And while we no longer personally drive to BC to pick up seasonal produce, we've maintained a strong business relationships with many of those same farmers. |
